This little paper book has taught me some serious lessons of detachment today, when you're meant to be flying off to Portugal with your yogi teacher friends on Friday and you can't find your passport, your patience, ability to stay calm and ultimate sanity is definitely stretched.
After searching high and low, talking to airlines and passport agencies all of which were lovely, very friendly and wishing me well it looks like this little paper book won't be found.
But hey that's where the practice begins, the practice of non-attachment, going with the flow and believing in the journey. The practice of not trying to hold onto something that doesn't fit, not fighting to hold a wall up that's falling down and not trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.
Today has been a big practice of letting go, just accepting what is and accepting that this is my journey (even if Portugal isn't!) and I've learnt that today. It's easy to think, the money! Or the holiday! Or but I'd planned this! Or it was all organised! But we can never ever really know what's going to happen tomorrow, next week or next month.
And even when life turns a little bit upside down, my practice today is all about letting go of the future and just being in the moment.
Detachment detachment detachment, release from all that is and just go with the flow, because ultimately none of us really know what's around the corner.
Thank you to all my beautiful friends who have helped today, called various people and just generally been so supportive and caring, you're all amazing.
Ps I've got a very important question for you, do you know where my passport is????
